WICKED WAIATA ENTERTAINMENT

His History

Originally a breakdancer, Wicked Waiata was introduced to DJing in 1985 through his breakdancing circle and eventually started doing gigs with his school friend's older brother. From there, he saved for his own equipment and started his own DJ business - doing private as well as club/bar gigs during the 90s.

He looked to further his education taking up I.T. and multimedia before relocating from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia in 2001. He'd learnt video editing and audio applications like Reason and started creating video megamixes and remixes and playing them at his venues in Sydney during the early 2000s.

He then became one of the first owners of Pioneer's DVJ video mixing digital turntables with their release in 2005 and pioneered live Video mixing. He was one of a handful of live Video DJs who could also video edit and produce their own remixes. Since those early days, he continued to further his music knowledge by collecting Jazz, Latin & Brazillian music and learning to produce, read and write music and play instruments such as the piano.

Over the last 10 years, he has delved into Live streaming and podcasting and is keen to expand his reach more into the online arena.
